I agree, the character designs are very similar. In fact, when I watched the Black Cauldron I immediately thought of Legend of Zelda. I did my research and found out the Legend of Zelda came out a year later. It doesn't matter that the book came out in 1965. The character design is what is similar and some of the elements of the story.

Who copied whom? The book that Black Cauldron was based on was written in the 1960's, idiots.

Also, the video game version of Legend of Zelda wasn't released until 1986, so both the film and video game were in production at around the same time. The movie still precedes the entire series by a year, so the cartoon Legend of Zelda ripped off of the Disney flop. It's not the other way around,

Not sure if they copied each other... The stereotype of a blonde princess has been around for a while. And the knife/sword wielding elfish guy in green has been around for centuries.
